 It's hard
to put one over on Linda Philpott.
Somehow she always knows what's going on. Or if she doesn't, it's not long before she figures it out.
Take the night of the Inaugural, for instance. Philpott's sister and brother in law flew in from
Indiana as a surprise, to see her receive her Realtor of the Year honors.
When her name was read as the award recipient, Philpott weaved her way through the tables
and chairs toward the front of the room, then veered for the door, intent on finding a unique
solution to the maze before her, a better way to reach where she was headed.
Sister and brother in law dove for cover as she headed straight for them, about to uncover
their meticulously-planned secret visit. Whether Philpott saw them at that moment or not
remains a mystery only she knows - but if she did, she didn't say a word, let the surprise
unravel on its own.
The minute of time in which these events occurred are a metaphor for what makes Philpott
a good person, a great leader, and a most deserving recipient of Realtor of the Year.
She looks for interesting ways to solve problems ahead of her and gathers information along the way,
taking into consideration bits and pieces she may not have expected. She's not afraid to stray
from the well-worn path, and has the grace and composure to share the spotlight, believing that
others' plans and thoughts are as important as her own.
Philpott is a long-time supporter of the Aurora Association of REALTORS®. She ends
six consecutive years as a member of the Board of Directors, serving in 2000 as AAR's
president, and completing 2002 as its corporate secretary. She has worked on the
Governmental Affairs and REALTOR®-Builder committees, is a frequent Masters Club award
recipient, a speaker at new member orientation, and chaired the Interview team for two years.
Philpott is also active with the Colorado Association of REALTORS®, currently as
chairwoman of the Colorado Association of REALTORS® Opening Night Dinner. She has
been a CAR director, a CORPAC and IPAC trustee, and member of committees and forums
too numerous to list. She brings a political expertise to AAR and CAR issues, having been
elected as a county and state assembly delegate, and having worked on numerous political
campaigns. |

 Take a look
at the list of activities Jack Sughrue supports at AAR, and it's easy to see that he earned his
2002 Affiliate of the Year honors.
But don't stop there. Take a look beyond the list, at the man himself.
It takes only a moment to realize that Sughrue's dedication and support come from his heart;
that his caring manner and unfailingly kind ways are genuine; and that his leadership skills
are as powerful and honest as they are quiet and sure.
In comparison to some, Sughrue is a short-timer at the Association.
But just four years into his membership at AAR, he has become invaluable.
During his tenure as chairman of the Affiliate Committee in 2001 - 2002, the group
hosted two exciting fundraisers to support important real estate-related and community
causes. He has been key in implementing unique avenues for affiliates to network with
REALTOR® members, including scheduling quality speakers to increase attendance at Friday
morning REALTOR® Update meetings.
It may be easier to list the Association events in which Sughrue is not involved. He is a
reliable member of numerous committees, including Inaugural, Golf and Bowling and New Home
Bus Tour. He supports all events, either with sponsorship contributions, or by giving
generously of his time.
Sughrue's versatile talents always come in handy - as a chef at the Political Survival
Fund Kick-Off Breakfast, gift-wrapper and craft-table host at the Gateway Battered Women's
Shelter Children's Holiday Party, limbo-leader at the Jamaica Me Crazy Affiliate
Fundraiser, ticket seller for any and all events, door-prize donor at Friday marketing
meetings, and picture-hanger when it's time to decorate for the Inaugural.
In addition to his volunteer time, Sughrue owns a successful insurance company,
Allstate Insurance, which he started in 1998 after joining the insurance business in 1983.
On numerous occasions, he has shared his expertise at the Association as a speaker and author
of insurance-related articles in the Aurora Outlook.
He is a dedicated husband whose enthusiastic, fun spirit permeates all his interests. |
