How quickly a year passes
By David Barber, AAR President
It hardly seems that a year has passed since I penned my first “President’s Message” and now I pen my last. Next month you will have a new president, with Terry Wenze taking the helm of our organization. The first thing I would like to do is say thank you for a great year and for all your support – it truly would not have been possible without all of you.
Together we have started rebuilding and enhancing the image of our members to the general public. We have been able to help distressed home owners in Aurora and will continue to do so. In fact, on Sept. 21, AAR hosts a summit featuring Freddie Mac, FHA, CHFA and the Colorado Foreclosure Hotline, details of the HAFA program and other financing programs available to help distressed homeowners. The summit is free for all members; register by calling the AAR office at (303) 369-5549.
Together we created new benefits for our members and explored greater ideas on how to make our Association more effective, more efficient and more relevant for our members in the future. There have been “Changes in Attitudes and Changes in Latitudes” in the past year that give us a stronger Association looking forward to brighter horizons in the coming years.
Together we have staked a position on how AAR will be positioned as area Associations re-align and reconfigure. It was a tough decision that you helped us make, and that AAR’s Board of Directors struggled with at length, but in the end we could not find the overall benefits to the membership that warranted making merger / consolidation considerations at this time.
As we move forward into the new year, new challenges will surface, new storms will appear – but your new president and Board of Directors members are up to the task. I want to wish them the greatest of success in the year ahead. Good luck, Terry – you are “Off to the Races.”
Once again, I would like to thank all of you for a fabulous year. It has truly been an honor to serve as your president and I look forward to doing everything I can in the future to support the success of the Aurora Association of REALTORS®!
