from the Association President

A time to reflect….

By Kim Enomoto

It has already been a year since my inaugural as president of the Aurora Association of REALTORS®.  It’s sad to think that it went so fast.  It has been my honor to work as your president, and a sincere privilege to work with people I admire.

I must thank all the directors of this wonderful Association.  There is a huge amount of time and a large commitment to be a director.  I know that all of your directors gave the Board their all this year on behalf of the 1,100+ membership.  All the directors have been knowledgeable, vocal and focused on some very important concerns.  We have accomplished many things and addressed many issues, including electronic lockboxes, MLS and Association regionalization issues, just to name a few.

The next time you speak to a director of the board, Metrolist representative, CAR director or NAR director, thank them for all their hard work!  These are volunteer positions, but all of your directors have passion and take their positions very seriously.

We as directors, are concerned with “ends.”  According to bylaws of Policy Governance (the means by which the Association is governed), the directors focus on “ends” (the outcomes) and the staff works toward making those ends come to fruition.  The staff does an amazing job and I am likely remiss in letting them know just how much they are appreciated!  We certainly could not function as a successful REALTOR® Association without a top-notch staff.  I thank them for a year of working together, for quick responses and for taking great care and pride to make sure all of the Board’s concerns and “ends” were addressed and completed.

As we continue to plan for the next many years ahead, please do not hesitate to find your directors at the marketing meetings or other events and let us know what your concerns or ideas might be to help us make sure we are addressing items that are of importance to you and the rest of the membership.

I can not express with enough enthusiasm how important it is for members to be involved from the beginning on all issues.  Please continue to read the newsletters and e-mail notices you receive from the Association and give your thoughts.  I certainly appreciated all the phone calls and e-mails I received throughout my presidency.  The board of directors is comprised of some very level-headed, hardworking people and we will get the job done and all issues addressed.  Thank you for a great year!

As Cheri Long starts her presidency for 2007, I want you all to attend the festive Inaugural Fri., Oct. 6th.  Not only is this Cheri’s Inaugural, but it’s also the 50th year of the Aurora Association of REALTORS® existence and Chief Executive Officer’s Carol Reed’s 25th anniversary with the Association.  These are three awesome reasons to join in congratulations all the way around.  Another terrific reason to attend?…Why not kickstart your year with networking, food, entertainment and just plain getting to know agents in our organization that you WILL be doing business with in the next year?!

I wish you all a very successful 2007!
