Scenario one
You’ve taken all the courses, passed your state test and decided you’re going to join the Aurora Association of REALTORS®. You want to get involved but just don’t know what the first step is.
Scenario two
You’re a seasoned agent (or affiliate) who’s beginning to ask the question “What does an Association really do for me?”
I’ve been here at AAR for so many years, heard it all, seen it all, and it has all come around full circle! I have the answer for agents and affiliates at both ends of the real estate spectrum.
Get involved!
At this point in your chosen career, perhaps you’ve hit an impasse and don’t know whether you want to stay in the business any longer – maybe because the market is down, the economy is the worst its been in recent history and sales are terrible. All valid observations with one exception – you’re looking everywhere but in the mirror.
If you have the ability to network, the determination to try something new and the will to challenge yourself, then consider this: people are more successful when they are passionate about something. So what are you passionate about?
Be involved!
The Aurora Association of REALTORS®, in conjunction with its affiliate partners, has created committees that support each other at many different levels of the community. Whether it’s humanitarian efforts, charitable efforts, entertainment, politics, ethics, professional standards or a host of other events, members are always invited to provide their level of expertise, skill, experience and training into the group.
What if you’re new and don’t know anyone or have not had the opportunity to serve on a committee before? Then you are exactly who the Association is looking for! Why? You bring fresh ideas, a new approach and eagerness to serve that may just be lacking on any particular committee.
What if you’ve checked AAR’s website at www.AuroraRealtors.org and don’t see a committee that interests you? Then consider your own interests, talk to a Board of Directors member or CEO Carol Reed, and find out whether it’s possible to form a committee that is centered on your passion.
Stay involved!
The best way to pick up your business is to conduct business. I believe that once you re-energize yourself and get involved you will find that new doors of opportunity will make themselves available.
If you would like a list of current committees, the chairpersons of these groups or a contact telephone number, visit AAR’s website, contact the Association office or find a director. I guarantee we are as eager to help you find your niche as you are.
You don’t have to be a seasoned member to get something done at AAR. People who show the drive and passion to help others are always in demand. Serving on a committee can be a rewarding experience which allows you to grow as an individual, teaches you the critical skills of being a team’ player and perhaps leads you to take a serious look at the leadership positions that are open each year.
