Changing for the future.
by Don DiFiore
Real estate professionals hate change, but it is
a necessary evil in our business. We need to evolve to better serve our clients. Below are seven
reasons why we resist change.
- People lack desire.
- People think of what they have to give up.
- People feel alone even when everyone is going through the same thing.
- People can handle only so much change.
- People are at different levels of readiness.
- People get concerned that they won't have enough resources.
- If people are not pushed, they will go back to their old behavior.
Read this list again and see how many of these that
you are guilty of. Which ones can you avoid getting trapped into?
We must have passion to change, to better ourselves.
Think of what you have to gain in business, relationships, and personal wealth.
Pick a partner to help you, a mentor or someone
who wishes to grow with you. Then push each other… not just in business success, but in personal growth
and education. Get a designation from the National Association of REALTORS®. Some agents won't send a
referral to another agent unless they have one or two or three professional designations behind their
name.
Don't try to change all at once
- take small,
consistent bites. Master your new skills before moving on. Work at your own pace; don't worry if someone
you know passes you up on the ladder to success - just keep pushing yourself higher.
Never worry about resources. Somehow, they always
have a way of turning up when you need them. Make yourself accountable to someone, anyone, so you know
you will have to answer to someone who calls asking how you are doing and where you are in your change
process. If you can't find someone to "push" you, call me! I love to see successful people reach new heights.
Surround yourself with people who want to grow with you.
And most importantly, remember to smile and have
fun along the way. It's the journey that we love!
