Index of all
messages from the Association President
AAR State of the Association.
by Don DiFiore
As I sit here writing my last President's article, I am taken aback by all we have accomplished this year.
Colorado Cares
The Colorado Cares Program that I worked hard to initiate is purring along with over $50,000 donated to CARHOF already this year. The funds from this program will go to support affordable housing in our community and throughout the state now and for years to come. Through the Colorado Cares Program and member donations, AAR has provided grants to the Gateway Battered Women's Shelter, Aurora Interchurch Task Force, Cherubim Foundation and Colorado Housing Assistance Corporation.
Increased participation
I made it to quite a few REALTOR® Update Meetings (Friday mornings at 8:30) to get face-to- face with AAR's top-quality members to let them know about member benefits the Association has to offer and to keep them apprised of key issues that we are facing as real estate professionals. Attendance at the
REALTOR® Update Meetings has increased dramatically this year, partly due to the addition of industry-related speakers at each meeting.
Your info central
AAR's website is up and running as your new information central, featuring the full Education Schedule and registration forms, articles about industry topics you need to know about, the latest on upcoming events, a full list of AAR's Affiliate members, NAR and CAR information, how to get in touch with AAR leadership and staff, what's available at the
REALTOR® store, and so much more. It's the first stop you should make when you need information about AAR, what it can offer you, and what's going on in your industry.
Pursuing the political
AAR plays a major role in the political arena through grassroots involvement at the local, state and national levels. Whether the issues are banks in real estate, sign codes, property casualty insurance availability and affordability, or interpretation of the unsolicited fax issue, the association's influence protects your ability to conduct business. An Association committee is currently interviewing candidates for the mayoral and city candidate elections and will publish its selections on the website and in the Aurora Outlook.
Top-quality leaders
I am proud to be a part of an active association with leadership that believes in our industry and is willing to volunteer their time for the betterment of our profession and our community.
Our own Bob Brown, Re/Max 3000, Inc., becomes CAR president in October; Sarah Curtis, Metro Brokers Premier Marketing Services, becomes president of the Mile High Chapter of
the Women's Council of REALTORS® in 2004, Bob LeGare, Bob LeGare, Broker, serves on the Aurora city council and is running for a mayoral position in November, Lynn Myers, Lynn Myers, Broker, is serving as County Commissioner, Linda Philpott, Westwind Realty is the CAR District Vice President of Governmental Affairs and Caroline Nordyke, Look East Realty, is soon to be named Regional Vice President of the Women's Council of
REALTOR®.
Of course, the above list names only a few of the dedicated people in the Association who are working on your behalf. Those who are involved are too many to mention
individually... through PSF or other financial contributions, time spent on committees, assistance with events, and much more.
Staying involved
As your President, I have traveled around this country meeting influential people in the real estate industry and learning how they became successful. I have tried to bring all of this knowledge back to Aurora to help make critical decisions about the way we will do prosperous business in the future. I hope to be able to use these connections over and over for the future needs of this great Association as I take the position of Corporate Secretary in 2003 - 2004, and continue to devote my energies toward strengthening this already strong organization. We are only an e-mail away from the answers!
Here's to the future
Best wishes to Debbie Green, Realty Executives of Aurora, as she takes over the presidency in 2003- 2004. We hope that you will join us at the Inaugural Celebration at the HeatherRidge Country Club Sept. 20, when the new officers and directors will be installed and volunteers from this year will be recognized.
Thanks for a great year!
