Make new friends, but keep the old ones in 2004
by Debbie Green
Well, it is hard to believe that we're ready to begin another year.
As 2004 begins, an eventful 2003 draws to its close. Was it a good year for you? Did you meet your goals? Exceed your goals? Did you have any goals? If not, start next year with a plan in place.
Make 2004 plans now
Have you blocked out time every month in the coming year for fun, family, and relaxation? Did you block out time for vacation? What about time every month for education, and at least an hour or two for volunteering as a committee member at the Aurora Association of REALTORS®? There are so many things that constitute being successful and having a great year as opposed to just a good one.
Are you including a solid marketing plan for next year? Remember - goals are dreams with a timeline. Whatever you decide to do, put it in writing. Writing your goals down helps you clarify your thoughts, if only for yourself. And if you have it in your own hand, you can check yourself from time to time just to be sure you're keeping up with what you hope to do.
The Association counted many successes in 2003. AAR added 196 new members and 48 affiliates to its ranks. Here's a holiday toast to their future success; I hope each and every one of them will be make great strides in the coming 12 months. I hope also that we all took the time to welcome them into the REALTOR® family.
Looking ahead, setting goals
As REALTORS®, we must identify and increase diversity in our business plans this coming year. Let's build relationships, promote and implement marketing to create and maintain diverse communities.
Consider blocking out your Friday mornings for REALTOR® Update meetings at the Association office. What a way to energize for the weekend.
Take time to thank friends, family, business associates for being in your sphere - not only at the end of the year, but on a regular basis. Thank yous go so far in these hectic days. Taking the time to express your appreciation to those around you for their good deeds makes both parties feel good.
In 2004, make time to read books, walk the dog, listen to music, do something special for all those who are special in your life...including yourself.
I look forward to seeing you all in the coming new year! Have a happy and prosperous 2004!
