There is Strength in Numbers.
A Million Strong and Growing...

A Million Strong and Growing...

As an Association, AAR has continued to experience growth. Realtor numbers are increasing both locally and nationally. AAR member benefits include education, weekly marketing updates, code of ethics enforcement, social events, information and technology, governmental affairs and more.

There is strength in numbers and there is also a responsibility with having that kind of strength. The responsibility extends to each of us in how we deal with each other and our customers, and the knowledge we acquire from all our resources.

Are you aware of your position as an organization on several issues nationally? Here are some of the issues that affect your business:

  • The National Association of REALTORS® (NAR) supports legislation in Congress that would forbid big banking conglomerates from getting into real estate.
  • NAR supports meaningful bankruptcy reform.
  • NAR advocates the full disclosure of credit scores to consumers.
  • NAR supports and has developed diversity programs at the state and local levels.
  • NAR is an outspoken advocate for Fair Housing.
  • NAR pushed for the recent enactment of the American Dream Downpayment Act.
  • NAR supports affordable flood insurance.
  • NAR strongly supports and advocates for housing as an investment, housing opportunities, mortgage interest deduction, and private property rights.
  • NAR believes in "Good Quality of Life" The quality of life inherent in a community affects the desirability, salability, and value of homes.

I am excited about the public awareness campaign launched by NAR and followed by the Colorado Association of Realtors and our own Association.

The public awareness campaign is designed to help the public understand that there is a difference between being a REALTOR® and a real estate licensee.

Quick close your eyes before you read the next sentence, and see whether you could describe the difference if a client asked.

A REALTOR® is a licensed real estate professional who is a member of the NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF REALTORS, The Voice for Real Estate®, and subscribes to its strict Code of Ethics. A licensee subscribes to no such code.

In the coming months, you will hear and see more advertisements on the radio and in print media such as billboards asking the question, "Ask if your agent is a REALTOR®?" and "Make sure your agent is a REALTOR®?" I am asking you to make sure you know and understand the difference.
