from the Association President

My, my...how time flies!

by Debra Green

I don't know about you, but it seems to me that with each year I add to my time on this planet, the days, weeks and months speed by faster and faster. My year as president of this Association has already come to an end.

The year has been upbeat and a bit strange. Business for all of us has been a bit dicey, but good. We have had to deal with an overabundance of housing units on the market, more foreclosures, and homeowners upside down in the homes. Interest rates are creeping up, but are still amazingly low. Buyers are well-informed and have many, many choices. As a profession, we have had to make adjustments to better serve our customers. I think we will have to continue to adjust and redefine our roles and our models of business.

Events and adventures
Time at the Association has passed quickly, the days full of exciting events, unique classes, and fun social situations.

All of AAR's members had to take make sure to take Quadrennial Ethics to fulfill a new membership requirement. This top-quality class took a real-world look at Ethics cases with a focus on how to adhere to the Code of Ethics to which we all subscribe.

During the year, many of us attended a lovely dinner with Aurora's new and incumbent City Council members, a great State Convention, a very successful Silent Auction and PSF Kickoff Dinner, numerous lively Friday morning REALTOR® Update sessions, and many educational classes including Larry Kendall's Ninja Selling III. The Association hosted its Annual Holiday Luncheon, with incredibly generous donations from many members helping families of service men and women stationed at Buckley Air Force Base. AAR members attended another successful REALTOR® Rally, kicked up their heels at the St. Patrick's Day celebration, and tested their talents at AAR's Bowling and Golf tournaments.

Awesome affiliates
The Association again was fortunate to have a great group of wonderful and giving affiliate members who stepped up to the plate every time their help was needed. They not only agreed to help, but they also pitched in with extra effort at every suggestion and request.

Members who are missed
Inevitably, AAR suffered the loss of members who were invaluable to the Association, and who were a great credit to their profession. Passing away were Dave Lewis, Earl Chism and James Herst. Each is sorely missed.

Top-notch leaders
AAR Board of Directors members, CAR Directors and Metrolist Directors have done a phenomenal job, having spent many hours investigating and reporting on areas in the real estate industry that may impact your business. Numerous chairs and committee volunteers have worked to keep AAR members in the loop, and to represent the Association well at local, state and national levels.

A look ahead
Please welcome and make your new president and directors feel the same warmth and acceptance I have felt this past year. With your support, they will continue to make AAR a top-quality Association.

Thank you
I have enjoyed serving as your president and representative. I will always cherish the experiences and interaction with you all. This has been a humbling and exhilarating experience. Thank you for allowing me to serve you.
