 REALTORS® must complete ethics update class for membership requirement
REALTORS® follow a strict Code of Ethics that non-members cannot lay claim to. The Code represents honor, integrity and service in our industry. It serves as a guide for daily interactions with clients, the public and with each other.
Being a REALTOR® is different than merely being a real estate agent, and adhering to a strict code of ethics may be one of the most important reasons why. Because this is true, all REALTORS® are required to complete ethics training every four years to ensure that they are upholding the high standards defined by the Code.
In 2000, the Board of Directors of National Association of REALTORS® approved a requirement its member complete a minimum of 2.5 hours of an ethics update course once in every four year period. The first period was from January 2001 through December 2004. The current requirement is from January 2005 through December 2008. Any member failing to complete the requirement is suspended according to the bylaws of the Association.
There are several options available to complete your Ethics requirement this calendar year:
Four-Hour Update Course at AAR
($35 ~ 4 hours C.E. credit)

Nov. 20, 1 p.m. – 5 p.m. (Instructor Steve Stazel)
Dec. 19, 1 p.m. – 5 p.m. (Instructor Steve Stazel)
Four-Hour New Member Ethics and Professional Practices Course at AAR
($35 ~ 4 hours C.E. credit)
Sept. 11, 8 a.m. – Noon (Instructor Oliver Frascona)
Nov. 6, 8 a.m. – Noon (Instructor Steve Stazel)
NAR Online Code of Ethics Course
(Free ~ No C.E. credit)
