REAL ETHICS by Steve Stazel | February

This is only a test...
Get out a pen and a piece of paper. I'm going to ask you two questions.
Once you read them, immediately write down your answer. Do not look at the explanations below until you have written what you think are the correct answers (only you will know if you answered correctly).
Here are the questions:
- In Colorado, there are two ways we can work with buyers. One is as a transaction broker. What is the other way? WRITE IT DOWN NOW.
- What is the phonetic pronunciation of the word REALTOR®? WRITE IT DOWN NOW.
Answers
Let's address number two first. I hope you had only TWO syllables in your answer. Please be aware that the word REALTOR® has only ONE "a" in the word. It is not pronounced "real-a-tor." Because we engage in real estate, some people think the word is pronounced with an extra "a." Because we are all REALTORS®, we should be able to pronounce the darn word.
The answer to the first question is as a "buyer's agent"... not "buyer broker." A buyer broker is a broker working with a buyer. That broker can be either a buyer's agent or a transaction broker. In Colorado, the two ways we can work with buyers are as either a transaction broker or as a buyer's agent. Shouldn't we, as competent brokers, be using the proper terminology?
