AAR's Family Appreciation Day

Krista McCall helps daughter Hailey at putt putt golf as older sister Shyla looks on. The two girls are granddaughters of AAR member Sharon McCall, HTT Realty.

Longtime member Larry Sellers, Realty Executives of Aurora, brought his great grandson Roland and his son Hunter to enjoy some time at the park.

Tom Gould, WIN Home Inspection, plays volleyball with son Kenyon at AAR’s first-ever Family Appreciation Day in June. Gould, along with fellow affiliates, planned the event at Bicentennial Park.

From a distance, you could hear the sounds of children laughing as they ran across the expanse of grass at Aurora’s Bicentennial Park. Drawing near, you could pick up snippets of hearty conversation and see claps on the back as friends greeted each other and introduced their family members one by one.

The Aurora Association of REALTORS® Family Appreication Day June 23 brought together groups of people not often included in day-to-day workings of the real estate business...co-workers’ spouses, children, grandchildren, friends.

The Association’s Affiliates planned the event to offer REALTORS® and other AAR members a fun, free way to get to know each other.

“It’s a great way to meet people networking-wise,” said Affiliate Committee Vice Chairman Ryan Urbach, Mountain Mortgage Group. “It’s good to have a personal aspect when we work with each other.”

Tom Gould agreed. “It’s easier to work with people if you know each other outside of the 30 seconds you get to talk in a meeting,” he said. Gould, WIN Home Inspection, and Urbach were just two of many Affiliate members who organized the day.

A free-for-all
The goal of the event was to provide a day of fun for members without any money involved. The Affiliate Committee used funds they raised from their Texas Hold’em event to foot the bill.

Attendees were treated to a tasty barbecue lunch from Jim ‘n Nick’s Bar-B-Q, along with free rounds at Bicentennial Park’s putt putt golf course.

“The Affiliate group did an awesome job making the REALTOR® community feel appreciated,” said AAR President-elect David DeElena. And that’s what the day was all about.
