Electronic lockbox evaluation delayed

By Scott A. Matthias,
Electronic Lockbox
Task Force Chairman

An evaluation period for electronic lockboxes by Associations and brokerages in the metro area is being delayed until the first quarter of 2008.

The Lockbox Task Force, which has been working on bringing electronic lockboxes to the market, met recently to discuss the implementation of SentriLock lockboxes, which had been scheduled for May and June. In considering the needs and desires of our members, the task force delayed the start of the testing period.

The task force believes that every component of rolling out this lockbox successfully will be completed by this time frame and that it will be a great benefit for all agents. This time frame will coincide with the best integration with our showing services and the benefit of the new Prime Access product currently being rolled out by Metrolist.

The reason task force members felt confident in bringing SentriLock into the market was due to the technology of one-day codes that would allow everyone access into the box whether they have a card or not. In other words, a system that is completely voluntary.

The task force is dedicated to ensuring that members will be happy with the end product and that it will be a benefit to their business. Updates will come during the fourth quarter and into next year as to when training sessions leading up to the actual roll-out date will be available.
