Two AAR members elected to CAR posts for 2011
The Aurora Association of REALTORS® congratulates members
Sunny Banka and David Barber, who were both elected to
Colorado Association of REALTORS® (CAR) offices for 2011.
Sunny Banka
Banka takes the post of CAR Treasurer. Her involvement at both state and local levels of the Association is extensive, with years of experience in legislative policy, finance and regulation.
Most recently, Banka has been chairwoman of CAR’s Legislative Policy Committee (2010), using her experience after serving as a member of that committee since 2002. She’s in her fifth year on CAR’s Finance Committee, chaired the Regulatory Committee in 2009 and the Business Taxing and Housing Sub Committee in 2008. She has been a member of the CAR Board of Directors since 1996 and is a current member and past chairwoman of the State Convention Committee.
At AAR, Banka is serving as chairwoman of the Government Affairs Committee (2010). She was AAR president in 1996-1997, a member of the Board of Directors from 1995-1998, and has been a member of the Executive/Budget & Finance, Education, Professional Standards, REALTOR®/Lender, Government Affairs, Inaugural, Holiday Luncheon, Residential Marketing, Masters Club, and Candidate Interview committees.
Banka is also active in the community, at Metrolist and in many charitable organizations.
David Barber
David Barber will step from his current post as AAR’s president into his newly-elected position as Metro District Vice President-Elect.
His wide base of experience includes the chairmanship of AAR’s successful 2009 Road to Recovery Housing Fair, which provided assistance and advice to families in Aurora facing foreclosure. Barber has served on AAR’s Board of Directors since 2008; he’s a longtime member of AAR’s Government Affairs Committee , and has given his resources as a PSF contributor.
At the state level, Barber has been a participant of the CAR MLS, Risk Management, Leadership, Professional Standards, Education Foundation and Metro District committees since 2008. This year, he was part of NAR’s Affordable Housing Symposium and has been a participant on NAR’s MLS, Risk Management, Presidents’ Round Tables and Medium Board Issues Committees/Forums and part of the 2009 NAR Workforce Housing Summit.
Barber has also given his time in a number of capacities with Metrolist; he is a dedicated family man and is active in his church.
AAR is pleased to be represented at CAR by these outstanding members.
