Association CEO Carol Reed nominated for Women In Business award
Surrounded by family members and Association friends, AAR Chief Executive Officer Carol Reed was recognized Feb. 24 as a nominee for the Aurora Chamber of Commerce Women in Business "Unsung Heroes" award.
The annual award is given each year by the Chamber's Women in Business (WIB) organization at its Membership Luncheon to honor women who have made "substantive yet unrecognized contributions to their community or business."
Surrounded by support
Association members filled a sponsor table at the luncheon in support of Reed. Among them was AAR Past President David Barber, whose idea it was to nominate her.
"Carol Reed is the life blood of the Aurora Association of REALTORS®," Barber wrote in his nomination essay. "She has just celebrated her 30th year in the organization with over 20 years as the CEO. During that time she has guided the Association through thick and thin, prosperity and strife, and dealt with a new (volunteer) president each year."
At the luncheon in front of more than 300 attendees, Reed accepted a trophy in honor of her nomination. She joined seven other Aurora business women who were also nominated.
"It's great to be honored for what I believe that my position at AAR requires," Reed said. "One, use every talent and skill set that I have to make our leadership shine; two, to provide quality customer service; and three, to be the best I can be to serve our members, my fellow man and the community where I live."
While Reed was not the winner of the Unsung Hero award, she said she feels grateful to have the support of members who enrich her life daily.
"I feel fortunate to have AAR leadership and members who have become my friends and long term staff members who have been loyal to AAR and to me," Reed said. "While this nomination was meant to honor an unsung hero, I have always felt appreciated and honored by the members and leaders of the Aurora Association."
