Card sharks circle at AAR's Annual Texas Hold 'Em Tournament
Tournament players rewarded with scrumptious chili, dessert cook-off entries
Proudly sporting colors of their favorite alma mater, AAR members celebrated "March Hold 'Em Madness, Baby!" March 23, throwing their chips on the table to enter the Association's annual poker tournament.
More than 50 players sat at tables headed up by professional dealers, and this year, a new winner was crowned queen of the play. Ellen Richter, who is the sister of longtime AAR member Marlene Hasz, had what it takes to best the Association's finest players.

Also part of the event was a Chili and Dessert Cook-Off featuring 18 entries that pleased the crowd. AAR's own President Nancy Griffin made the winning chili entry and Affiliate Desiree Banka supplied the winning dessert entry.
The Texas Hold 'Em Tourney and Cook Off is a fundraiser organized by AAR's Affiliate Committee. Proceeds from the event help pay for a Family Appreciation Picnic scheduled in August.
The Association extends its gratitude to the many members who gave their time and resources to ensure the success of this annual event.

to take the AAR Tournament. In second place was Laura Ruch and in third,
Justin Knoll.

Seated at tables with professional dealers, members of the Association,
their friends and family members threw their chips on the table to join
AAR's annual Texas Hold 'Em Tournament.

Many members wore their school colors to celebrate the March Madness
theme of the Tournament, but others took it one step further. Cheryl Vavra,
Ryan Urbach and Nancy Griffin were too cool in themed shades. Vavra was
the Association's planning liaison for the event; Urbach chaired the committee,
and Griffin won the Chili Cook Off.
